RT Bold Metals Dupes? First Impressions and Comparison!

When one of my favourite brush brands, Real Techniques, realised their newest range of luxury brushes last year, I was so excited and vowed to get my hands on all of them.
But when they were realised the shocking prices put me off. I was not prepared to pay up to £25 for a 'highstreet'  brand, even if they were meant to meet high-end quality. I recently received the christmas gift set last christmas from my sister, and I was so happy and cherished the rose-gold shiny brushes on my dressing table. I desperately wanted more, and I started to look on amazon and ebay for dupes. I was shocked at the amount of identical dupes they had for such an affordable price! My best friend had recently bought some similar dupes from ebay, and she says they are great, so I knew i wanted some! I ordered a set on amazon for £6.79. You can buy the complete set of 7, or individually buy the brushes for around £2. 

RT brush in '300' vs dupe 

Lets start off with the similarities and differences between the real and dupe brushes. First of all, the real bold metals are weighted, and the dupes are not. You could say this is good or bad, as being lighter would make the brushes easier to travel with as they don't add weight to your makeup bag. The dupes also don't have the 'RT' or the brush number printed on them, but everything else is pretty similar. A few of the brushes are slightly different, like the contour brush below, is much thicker then the real one. I think I actually prefer this, as it gives a more natural effect to your contour. The 2 eye shadow brushes are also slightly different, but nothing dramatic.

Flat Contour Brush

'Triangle Foundation Brush', 'Arched Powder Brush'.

Now about the brushes actual performance. The two base brushes (gold) are the triangle foundation and arched powder. I used the foundation brush to apply my liquid foundation today, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much from this brush, as I prefer applying foundation with a sponge. But it applied my foundation evenly, and didn't leave any brush strokes, giving me a nice base. I don't think that this brush has taken away my love of my Real Techniques miracle sponge, but I will definitely be using it again. The powder brush is extremely soft and is the perfect density for applying loose or pressed powder.

'Tapered Blush Brush', 'Flat Contour Brush'.

The finishing brushes are my favourite out of the set in terms of looks, as they are a beautiful rose gold. The blush brush is a perfect size for precision blush application, as it's small so you can fit it just on the apples of the cheeks. The contour brush is very dense and is great for subtle contouring and bronzing up the face.

'Pointed Crease Brush', 'Angled Liner Brush', 'Oval Shadow Brush'

There are three eye brushes, and these are in silver. I like the crease brush for defining the crease and outer v of the eye, the eyeliner brush for my eyebrows and the oval shadow brush for packing on shadow and blending the crease.

Overall, I think these brushes are a great dupe for the Bold Metals, and at the amazingly cheap price of £6.79 for 7 brushes, I think you should definatly pick them up! They will look beautiful displayed on any vanity setup and they peform as well as my real ones.
